ADHD Reset: What to Do When You Feel Stuck

March 22nd 2026

Hey there!

Happy Momentum Monday (on a Sunday)!

Quick question…

Have you ever had one of those days where nothing is technically wrong…

…but everything feels off? (Of course you have!)

You’re restless.
A little anxious.
Kinda scattered.
You want to do something… but also absolutely do not.

So you scroll.
You avoid.
You overthink.
And somehow end up more overwhelmed than when you started.

Cool cool cool. Love that for us. 😅

The Reframe You Might Need This Week

I saw a quote recently that said:

“Anxiety is ambition without action.”

And while I get what it’s trying to say… it felt a little aggressive for me.

Because for ADHD brains, it’s usually not:
“I need to push myself harder.”

It’s:
👉 “My brain has energy… but nowhere safe or clear to put it.”

That restless, buzzy, uncomfortable feeling isn’t failure, it’s unprocessed energy.

Why This Happens (Especially for ADHD Brains)

When your brain is overwhelmed, hormonal, tired, overstimulated (hi, life 🙃)…

Your system goes into this weird in-between state:

  • too activated to relax
  • too overwhelmed to focus
  • too scattered to choose

So instead of doing something

You do nothing.

Not because you’re lazy.
Because your brain doesn’t know where to start.

The Shift: Don’t Fix Your Life, Shift Your State

Before we even think about productivity…

We need to give that energy somewhere to go.

Not a full routine.
Not a 10-step reset.

Just one small state shift.

Your “State Shift Menu” (Pick One)

When you feel off, choose ONE of these:

  • Step outside for 2 minutes (no phone)
  • Drink a full glass of water
  • Shake out your body / stretch like a weirdo
  • Put on one song and move (zero choreography required)
  • Wash your hands in cold water / hold an ice pack
  • Change rooms / change your clothes

That’s it.

No overthinking. Just pick one.

Why This Works

You’re not trying to force focus.

You’re:
👉 releasing stuck energy
👉 calming your nervous system
👉 giving your brain a reset point

And that’s what creates the opening for momentum.

Not discipline. Not pressure.

Just… a shift.

This Week’s Action Item:

The next time you feel that “ugh I don’t know what to do with myself” energy…

Don’t make a to-do list.

Don’t spiral.

Don’t try to figure your whole life out.

Just:
👉 pick ONE state shift from the list above

That’s your only job.

Anything after that is just a bonus.

And remember, this is just ONE tool in the toolbox you’re building. We want to add it to your arsenal, not solely rely on this or any of our other tools.

If your brain has felt a little extra loud, emotional, or all over the place lately…

You’re not behind.

You’re not broken.

Your system just needs a different entry point.

And this week?

We’re starting there.

Reply and tell me: what’s your go-to “reset” move when you feel off?

I might steal it. 😏
