Happy Momentum Monday (on a Sunday) and HAPPY 2025!
This week’s Momentum Monday is going to look a little different, as a little New Year Special, but next week we’ll go back to our regularly scheduled programing. 😉
Incoming – Short(ish) Rant: I’ll be honest, this week snuck up on me and I almost dropped the ball. Last week was a bit hectic so I didn’t write my MM email early and schedule it for today (knew it would come back to bite me in the 🍑), so when I woke up late today, I went into a full “holy sh!t” moment! Then I remembered where I was (Germany), and that luckily I had a bit of buffer time. Love a good wake up panic mixed with jetlag mixed with dehydration. 🫠 All that to say, things happen, balls drop, panic ensues, but it is what it is. And the fact that I didn’t just say “oh well, I’ll just skip this week,” which is 100% what my past self would have done, OR belittle and beat myself up for not writing it and scheduling it last week, are both really big triumphs for me. It’s proof that the work I’m doing for myself is actually working. It DOESN’T mean things are perfect and that at some point one of the above scenarios won’t happen, but it means I’m getting better and improving on the things that I don’t like about how I’m showing up for myself and for my community. And I’ll tell ya, showing up “improved” feels so much better than striving for “perfection.”
Want to dive deeper into your specific “brand” of ADHD?
Speaking of which, I don’t know about you, but I am tired of seeing all the “New Year, New You” emails filling up my inbox. 🤢 I call BS. You don’t need to become a new version of yourself. 🙄 Instead, what if this year was about becoming more of who you already are? A year where you stop trying to fix or change yourself and instead lean into what actually works/doesn’t work for you and your ADHD brain. A year where you: …all without the constant stress, hustle, or pressure. 🥵 (We’re leaving that in 2024, thanks.) And whether last year was full of wins or felt like it threw you for a loop… you’re still here. You’re still standing. And you have a new opportunity to create something that actually works for you this time around. What If 2025 Looked Different?ADHDers are bombarded with messaging that tells us we need to work harder, be more disciplined and consistent, or stick to some rigid system that “guarantees” success. But as we’ve come to know—that shit hardly ever works for us and if it does work, it’s usually short lived. This year, let’s try something different. Let’s build momentum by: Because the (obvious) truth is, nothing changes if nothing changes and a big part of change is figuring out what can stay and what needs to go. So let’s stop trying to become someone we’re not—and instead, build a year around what already works for us.
