Hi friend!
Happy Momentum Monday (on a Sunday)!
If you’ve been walking around with your shoulders up by your ears, a brain full of unfinished to-dos, and a low-key shame spiral running in the background—take a deep breath.
Now ask yourself:
Does any of this actually matter as much as I’m acting like it does?
And I don’t mean that in a dismissive way. I mean it in a loving, “let’s check the drama levels here” kind of way.
Because sometimes, the anxiety we’re feeling isn’t about the actual tasks, it’s about the pressure and perfectionism we’re layering on top.
Let’s Get Real for a Second:
🌀 Is the sky going to fall if you have dishes in the sink?
🌀 Are you a bad adult because your laundry system is just two baskets labeled “clean-ish” and “dirty-ish”?
🌀 Are you tying your worth to your output?
We get so caught up in how things are “supposed” to be done that we forget:
✨ You’re allowed to do life differently.
✨ You’re allowed to choose what actually matters to you.
✨ You’re allowed to drop the chaos you’ve been holding onto like a security blanket.
Because guess what? You don’t need it. And it’s exhausting you.
Why This Works for ADHD Brains:
ADHD brains are natural over-thinkers and over-feelers (enter dopamine drought and rejection sensitivity). When life gets messy, our nervous systems go looking for control/familiarity—and often, they find it in shame, drama, and fake urgency.
But here’s the magic:
👉 When we take small, no-pressure actions and question our own rules, we create ease instead of tension.
👉 When we drop the drama, we make room for clarity, calm, and confidence.
👉 And when we focus on basic things (water, movement, a brain dump), we remind our nervous system that we’re safe.
This Week’s Challenge:
When you feel overwhelmed or anxious, ask:
🔹 “What am I holding onto that doesn’t actually matter that much?”
🔹 “Is there a way to do this differently… with less shame and more softness?”
🔹 “What’s the next basic thing I can do to support myself?”
And then do the damn basic thing.
Drink the water. Toss the laundry in one basket. Let the dishes wait. Breathe.
Permission granted to do life in a way that actually works for your brain. No gold stars required, but readily available.
Pep Talk of the Week:
You’re not broken. You’re just tired of running life on hard mode.
Ease doesn’t mean you’re slacking—it means you’re wise enough to stop wasting energy where it doesn’t matter.
Drop the drama. Do the basics. Let that be enough for today.
You’ve got this (and if not, you’ve got a snack and a soft blanket, which is close enough).
