How to Plan Ahead with ADHD (Before Holiday Chaos Hits)

October 19th 2025

Happy Momentum Monday (on a Sunday)!

Hey hey!

Quick note: Read to the end of this email to check out this weeks schedule in the ADHD Academy Collective. Lot’s of good stuff happening on the inside!

Okay, deep breath…
There are only 10 Thursdays until Christmas and 11 until 2026. Let that sink in for a sec.

I know. That’s a tiny bit horrifying to hear when you feel like you just survived back-to-school chaos or you’re still mentally stuck somewhere around early June. But hear me out, this is good news if you’ve got an ADHD brain.

We don’t love more pressure, but we do love the power of a good reframe.

Now is the perfect time to pause, zoom out, and sneak in some intentional planning while life feels a little more grounded (read: before we’re stress-eating peppermint bark in our pajamas and panic-buying gift cards on December 22nd 😅).

Why Future Planning Works Now (Not Later)

ADHD brains love novelty, fresh starts, and low-pressure windows.
Which means this moment, between the chaos of summer and the hibernation of winter, is our golden window.

When we wait until we’re already overwhelmed, we end up frozen or frantic or both. But starting now?
You get to do it in a much more sustainable way that can feel flexible, playful, and like you’re not just letting life happen to you, but taking back the reins!

We do NOT do perfection around here, but what we can cultivate are some soft landings and steady anchors before the storm hits.

Habits to Help You Think Ahead (Without Freaking Out)

Here’s how to gently tap into future-you thinking without launching into a full-blown 5-year plan:

1. Pick a Thursday

Mark one of those 10 remaining Thursdays (preferably sooner than later) on your calendar as a check-in day for what the rest of the year looks like for you.
Future You is gonna be soooo grateful

(P.S. I’ll be hosting a live coaching call Wednesday Nov 5th in the ADHD Academy Collective so we can walk through this together).

2. Brain Dump the Big Stuff

What’s coming up? Think: holidays, school breaks, travel, emotional triggers (hello family drama), work deadlines, or energy-zapping seasons.

Don’t try to fix or plan them all. Just get them out of your head and onto paper. This is decluttering for your brain.

3. Batch Your “Later” Tasks

Gift ideas, meal plans, travel logistics — these can live in your Notes or Reminder app under a “Deal With This in November” folder.
Out of your brain, still on your radar.

4. Prep for the “Winter Slump”

If you know darker days mess with your motivation, start small now. Build mini-routines and habits that are easy to sustain when the cozy couch starts calling. Look at what you can do on your “lowest capacity days” versus starting from what you can do at your “highest capacity days.”

Action Step for This Week:

Take 10 minutes this week to brain dump everything you know is coming between now and January.
That’s it. Not fixing it. Just naming it.

Bonus points if you set a calendar reminder in 2 weeks to revisit it (because… out of sight = out of mind = oops we forgot again 😅).

You’re not behind. You’re not “bad at planning.”
You’re actually right on time to start gently shaping the season ahead.

Let’s create momentum before we have to start relying on the ever illusive motivation.

Catch you next week,
Leah 🌶
