Hey there!
Happy Momentum Monday (on a Sunday)!
Hey hey!
This week, we’re doing something a little different. A little bigger. A little more… alive.
We’re talking about Misogi, and no, it’s not a new superfood or a 4 AM bootcamp for overachievers (we’re not about that life).
What is Misogi?
Originally a Japanese purification ritual, the modern remix is simple, soulful, and ADHD-friendly:
Pick ONE bold-ish thing each year that stretches you.
Something that feels a little scary (but in a good way).
Something that makes you go, “Oof… I might actually fail.”
Something that, when you look back, makes you whisper, “Damn, I did that?”
It’s not about achievement.
It’s not a resolution.
It’s not for show.
It’s for you — your growth, your story, your sense of aliveness.
Where This Idea Came From
I got this idea (and some major inspo) from Taylor at the Big Ass Calendar. She talks about choosing one “Misogi” a year and it clicked. For ADHD brains that crave novelty, purpose, and structure (but hate rigidity)? This is gold.
Did You Accidentally Do a Misogi in 2025?
Pause for a second.
Did you move somewhere new?
Say yes to something scary?
Say no to something safe?
Learn something weird?
Start something brave?
If so, congrats: you may have pulled off an accidental Misogi. That’s momentum, baby.
Let’s Pick One On Purpose for 2026
Choose one soul-stretching, dopamine-spiking, “maybe I’ll chicken out but maybe I’ll FLY” type of thing.
It should feel like a playful dare from your future self.
Some ADHD-friendly ideas:
-
Take a solo train ride to a random town
-
Try stand-up comedy or an open mic night
-
Host a tiny dinner party or potluck
-
Post something vulnerable online
-
Take a month-long class in something wildly random
-
Build a piece of furniture (or try to, lol)
-
Go on a cheap, chaotic, no-itinerary adventure
Again: scale doesn’t matter. Stretch does.
Mini Misogis: For the Dopamine Cravers Among Us
One Big Thing a year is great — but ADHD brains?
They also need regular hits of novelty, fun, and weird little quests.
So here’s your remix:
6 Mini Adventures – One every 2 months in 2026.
Think:
-
Wander a new trail or neighborhood
-
Try a cold plunge (once is enough)
-
Take a weird class (plant ID? improv? carpentry for beginners?)
-
Explore a museum solo with snacks
-
See live music in a random genre
-
Take a one-night solo trip somewhere spontaneous
These don’t have to be expensive or fancy. They just have to be new.
Give yourself little jolts of “Oh wow, I’m alive and this is kinda awesome.”
4 Winning Habits = 1 Per Quarter
To balance the wild with the grounded:
Let’s pick 4 small habits to build in 2026. That’s one per quarter.
You don’t need to overhaul your life. Try:
-
Night-before prepping your day
-
A weekly brain dump / Sunday planning sesh (join the Academy for built in accountability)
-
Moving your body in a way that doesn’t suck
-
A consistent-ish hydration habit (but for real this time)
These are nervous system wins, not productivity flexes.
I’ve been using the FREE ATOMS app (from Atomic Habits author James Clear) to set new, tiny habits.
This Week’s Action Step:
Pick your 2026 Misogi
What’s the bold, slightly spicy thing you want to remember?
Brainstorm your 6 Mini Misogis
Jot down a few tiny, joyful, adventurous ideas to sprinkle through your year.
Choose your Q1 Winning Habit
One small thing that supports your brain and your life.
Bonus Momentum Tip:
Everything you’ve already learned this year still applies (and can be found on the blog)
- Your evenings shape your mornings
- Ingredient prep > meal prep
- Master grocery list = less stress
- Micro-tasks build momentum
- “Ish” is your ADHD superpower
Let’s Kick This Year Off Right
If you’re tired of feeling stuck or stuck-ish, this is your nudge.
You don’t have to overhaul your whole life — but let’s make sure you’re not in the exact same place 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months from now.
Give future-you something to look forward to. Something to build. Something to brag about (even just to yourself). Book a FREE CALL and let’s get started. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Momentum over motivation. Always.
Tell me — what’s your Misogi? What’s one mini adventure? What’s your Q1 winning habit?
Hit reply. I’d love to hear it. I’m here to cheer you on (and probably copy some of your ideas, tbh).
With spicy encouragement,
Leah
