You Are Not Alone: ADHD and The Power of Community

June 1st 2025
Audio version:

Hey hey!

Ok so you wanna know what feels better than finishing a to-do list? Being in a room (or a Zoom!) full of people who actually get your ADHD brain.

This past Friday, I had a girlsnight with some of the gals from one of my ADHD groups that started way back in October. We’ve kept in touch with weekly calls, no pressure, just show up when you can, and now, we finally got to hang in person. It was amazing. We laughed, we got cozy, we were unmasked in the best way possible. We even wrote half a song then abandoned it to order Indian! Very on brand. 😅

There was no need to explain our quirks, no apologies for our tangents or forgotten sentences. Just full-on, glorious authenticity.

And it reminded me: ADHD community isn’t just nice to have. It’s essential.

Why This Hits Different for ADHD Brains

We are wired for connection, but ADHD can make us feel isolated as hell. Our struggles don’t always show on the outside, and masking gets exhausting. When we finally find our people? That feeling of “oh my god, me too!” is like a dopamine surge straight to the soul.

Whether it’s messy kitchens, missed texts, burnout, or hyperfixations that last 2 days, community reminds us we’re not broken, and we are not alone.

Key Habits to Start Finding Your People

🧠 Lower the bar for connection
You don’t need a full-on support group to start. Text a friend. Join a group chat. Comment on that ADHD meme. That’s community too.

🤳 Use tech to your advantage
Group Voxer chats, Eventbrite workshops, Discords, Reddit, Zoom hangouts, yes, even Instagram DMs. Find ADHD-friendly corners of the internet where people share wins, fails, and those “I brushed my teeth today” moments that matter.

🤝 Try a coaching group
Shameless plug: My next ADHD Academy group coaching program starts in June. If you want in on that kind of genuine connection (with coaching and tools to match), hop on the waitlist here. We keep it cozy, authentic, and wildly affirming.

✨ Find your flavor of weird
If my group’s not your jam, that’s totally fine! But don’t give up. Look for folks who celebrate your flavor of weird, who laugh with you when your brain derails mid-sentence, and who know that “I finally did the dishes” can be the highlight of someone’s week.

This Week’s Action Item:

Reach out to one person who makes you feel seen.
Send a text, voice note, meme—whatever helps you feel connected. Bonus points if you start a recurring check-in or group chat. Community doesn’t have to be huge to be powerful.

And if you’ve been craving that kind of connection but haven’t found your crew yet…
📅 Book a free call with me to see if the next round of ADHD Academy could be your jam. We kick off in June and this will be the last round at the current price—so if you’ve been on the fence, this is your sign. Let’s figure out together if it’s the right fit for you: Book a free call here.

Let’s find our people and keep moving forward, together.

See you next week.,
